Dear Retro People,

As far as I know both mainboards are PCI 2.1 compliant.
I am looking for a compatible network card for Win98SE.
10/100 would be enough of course, but it can be 10/100/1000.

I am looking for the card from Hungary, and eBay in Europe.

Can You give me some advice please?
For example, compatible models or chips.

This card is accessible near me, and it's datasheet says it's PCI 2.1 compatible:
https://www.assmann.com/product-pdf/aat/4016032310778?PL=en (RTL8169SC)

Or this maybe?
https://www.conrad.hu/p/renkforce-halozati-ka … 0-mbits-1710336 (also RTL8169SC)

Could these work under Win98SE?

Thank You in Advance! 😀

Regards,
Tibor

I tried RTL8169 cards with Windows 98SE - no problems.

Nie tylko, jak widzicie, w tym trudność, że nie zdołacie wejść na moją górę, lecz i w tym, że ja do was cały zejść nie mogę, gdyż schodząc, gubię po drodze to, co miałem donieść.

Why not a 3Com?
Definitely more in line with the time range. There should be a lot of these cards on sale.

I dont think you need any compatibility lists, all 10/100 PCI cards were made for those kinds of systems and will work fine. 1Gbit ones you need to look for win98 driver availability (and I would stay away from Realtek, their 1Gbit cards consume lots of CPU)
