The year was around 1998
I had a Pentium-II@400mhz computer
Running on an Intel Bx440 Motherboard
I was using 128mb of SDRAM
I had a Sound Blaster too

I was just getting into PC gaming so I was curious about what products were available for the PC.
I was running a Matrox millennium graphics card at the time.

Available for the PC at the time was the Riva TNT or Voodoo video cards.
I purchased both.

Unknowing to myself I bought the Budget Voodoo Banshee.
If I would have known its limitations I would have purchased the Voodoo-2 instead

I have that EXACT case for my 1998/1999 build! It's pretty great, aside from the way that the power supply gets in the way of the CPU socket and the CMOS battery on my particular 440BX motherboard.

That's really a beautiful well balanced case! I had a friend with a similar setup with a TNT2 card. Excelent audio and fast graphics. We took turns to play games until someone died or passed to the next level. 😀

There were a few case designs like this.
The original was an “Inwin A500”

Very popular back in late 1990’s
These were inexpensive at about $40 New with power supply

Sound Blaster Live 5.1 Sounds Awsome with Lucas Arts games and other games with high quality audio.
Need for Speed II, etc….

Sounds Really good.

What sound cards do you recommend ?

oof what else do you need than this? I guess you can assign irq 7 to the on board so it doesn't conflict with the sblive and that should cover everything. Idk how well the OPl4 is on the motherboard, I thought that I read it wasn't the same as GM. But the board has a midi/joystic port so maybe plug a external GM into that and its perfect.

I am actually using a different BX440 motherboard with with NO onboard audio.
I like the Strip down BX440 motherboards this way I get no IRQ conflicts with USB, Audio, Video, or Networking.
I will upload a picture of it.

This made me chuckle. As a teenager at the time I also bought a Banshee, because it was newer than the Voodoo2 my mate had and I didn't need a 2D card as well, so it must be better, right?! You live and learn.

Nice spec system though, well done 😀

Yep, that's the sort of case I will be looking forward to get someday sooner rather than later. Thanks for the info!
