I have a copy of Bad Cat, but it does not have with it the "save.com" file that Sotho Tal Ker says is required to run under DOSBox. I was wondering if anybody either had the file, or had some way of reaching him. It is fundamental that I play this game 🙁

Why should we look into a thread marked with "/!\ L@@K /!\"? 🤐

Well, I thought it would be a humorous addition to a thread title that places grave importance on my ability to play a pretty lousy old game. Sorry 🙁

edit: There, it's gone now.

OK, now all you have to do is to get rid of the exaggeration "fundamental", and you might have a chance of someone trying to help you.

PS: i'm pretty sure all needed files would be included with the original game
PPS: who the f*ck is Sotho Tal Ker? Should we know this guy? If you're often talking with pulp book characters, you should see a psychotherapist quickly!

Sotho Tel Kar is, according to the listing, the guy who tested it with DOSBox and confirmed it as running. However, he included a note that said it won't start unless you first run "save.com" which he had included because apparently he had the game from a CD compilation. Mine is standalone and does not include this file. Sorry I wasn't clear.

Well, my copy of Bad Cat works quite well in DOSBox, so I'd assume yours does too. Anyway, what would be the problem with simply trying it?

It doesn't work. That was the entire reason for posting this thread. Did you do anything special or did you just run it normally?

Ah, but you didn't mention that 😀

Edit: I just rechecked my settings for the game, and I found it doesn't deal well with the large amount of free memory that DOSBox provides. Try typing "loadfix" at the DOSBox internal command prompt before starting the game. That does the trick for me.
