well you didn't post which os you are on and how you mounted your drives

What do I do?

NEVER use mount c c:\

First read the various guides on this forum. Then use a mounting like
mount c c:\oldgames
mount d k:\ -t cdrom
if c:\oldgames is an existing directory (create it if not), and k: is your cdrom.

Then stick to that mounting, install the game, and play it.

I never thought about the mounting, always thought it was some compatibility error...

One more question though

the players flash when i go in-game, i was reading about it somewhere on the forums about it maybe being a cycle/core issue

how do I go about changing that? (if that is the culprit)

Locate the dosbox.conf file (inside your DOSBox directory) and try changing cycles to 18000 or 20000 (e.g. cycles=18000).

That solved the player / scoreboard flashing for me...
