I am running Windows 3.1 in DOSBox, and would like to use the key combination Ctrl+Esc to bring up the Task Manager. But Windows XP overrides the command and backs out of DOSBox to bring up the Start Menu. Is there a way to get DOSBox to override the XP command instead?

well you could remap esc to a different key with the keymapper.
but the problem is really XP. Can't you set some properties on the shortcut of dosbox ?

Oh yeah, there's a keymapper! I've never had to use that before so I didn't think of it.

As for the other method, I've read elsewhere that you can disable Windows key combinations within an application by tinkering with the Properties settings. But when I pull it up, there's no Miscellaneous tab, which is what they refer to. They may be talking about another version of Windows.

Oh well, the keymapper does just fine so I don't really care about that other thing. Thanks a bunch.

That miscellaneous tab is for the properties of DOS programs run through Windows. It doesn't exist for native Windows programs (including DOSBox).
