Hi,

what will be the new features of the upcoming version 0.74?

Does there exist a timetable for this version?

Greetings
Jan

Hi,

thanks for the list. A lot of compatibility improvements, but no speed improvments 🙁

Do you have a link to the timetable?
Or do you know when Dosbox 0.74 is planned to be released?

Greetings
Jan

Every time somebody asks it's delayed by a week.

Speed improvements get harder and harder.

Some people who tried it recently considered it to be faster especially on heavy games like daggerfall

On Windows, compiling with the new VC++ Express 2010 seems to give a very noticeable speed boast compared to VC++ Express 2008. I've enabled all optimizations (that make sense) in both 2008 and 2010, and I get about 20% more speed with dynamic core and cycles=max on the DOOM timedemos on my (marginal for DOOM) Intel Atom netbook.

Before 0.73, it was two weeks.
Please go back 2 two weeks for the delay. 😉

Do you think there will be a release if nobody asks for one? 😁

Only as long as nobody asks what happens when nobody asks. 😵

It would be nice if they just called it v1.0 already. Nothing is ever quite finished, but that doesn't mean we have to use this 0.7x versioning system.

Don't know, maybe I overlooked something, but I think I kept everything else identical.

Subjectively, I'm seeing some speed gain on my Desktop (Core 2 Quad) as well, but there doesn't seem to be as much gain as on the Atom. Unfortunately I already threw out VC++ 2008 and didn't write down any numbers on the Desktop before I did so, so I can't really compare it without a lot of work for which I'm too lazy 😖

Hm, as such an application never will be finished really, I expect not 1.0 sometime, but 0.100 😉
