🙁 I've tried a few different ways, but I just can't get this game to run. Using DosBox v0.74 on my 7 Pro. 64Bit system. Can anyone give me some help please.

Have you mounted the cddrom (or iso)? Otherwise it won't work...
Is the sound setup correctly adjusted?
I know for a fact it works, as I'm running it as I write this.
I can assure you it works on DosBox 0.74 and 0.73, as I tested on both.
You'll probably want a powerful processor though.

which version of dosbox are you using?
Please give us te exact details of what you are doing to make it work. Everything you type(d) in Dosbox.

bloodbat, this is what I tried:

1. Mount c d:\
2. C:\
3. Install
4. dir to install to

Then I get errors stating sounds.gob & other files cannot copy to my selected dir.

So then what I did was:
1. Copy the CD-Rom's files to my desktop
2. Install
3. Dir to install to
4. Dark D:\

Then I get the screen you see below:

How did you get the game working correctly? The sounds are coming through just fine when tested after install & I have the AMD Athlon X3 435

What you said is kind of vague...but as Qbix said, read the guide it WILL help you...what I can gather from what you said, you aren't mounting both a HDD and a CD
ie:
mount c c:\dosgames
mount d d:\ -t cdrom

You'll need both (a harddrive and a cd)...otherwise it won't work and you'll get such errors...since...it's trying to write to the cd...ROM.

😐 Thanks for the help & link. I finally had time to read & apply the guide, worked just fine. Dark Forces is working no prob. so far & I'm happy for that.

Problem is that Ultimate DOOM, DOOM II & Final DOOM were 'broke' after I applied the guide & I had to uninstall them. I know the guide tells how to edit the DosBox Config. for multiple CD changes, but my DOOM games don't need the CD's to play. Strange.

Or you could try Doomsday...I find it to be a better solution...but that's me.

and just to let you know there is a community mod that has given us a complete remake of DF on a modern engine ...relatively...but only the first 8 levels but it is fun.

The upcoming port for Dark Forces looks promising.

Yes, that's the one. I'm just having some issues with the keyboard where the character walks too slowly on most times.
