Exciting! Will linux users be able to build this and the alsa driver module with something other than gcc3.3? (I hope, I hope ) Very Happy

I certainly hope so. Linux is my primary development platform right now. I haven't compiled the ALSA driver recently (I've mostly been using the new mt32emu_smf2wav for testing), but I'll try to make sure it compiles and works properly before the next release.

If you know of any specific compilation problems with current CVS HEAD and newer gcc versions, do please let me know.

I'm not sure if it's relevant here, but maybe you want to check out Canadacow's MT32 driver doesn't install on Vista32 for mt32emu driver installation problems with Vista (and the solution).

Just curious, what is the current status of development and will there be a release soon? 😉

You can watch current progress at the munt cvs page on sourceforge:

You can also subscribe to the CVS commit mailouts or browse the archives.

We're still making steady progress on accuracy before we focus on optimisation again. The current code needs a fairly beefy system to run in realtime without stuttering.

It's great to see Munt being worked on again.
I have merged the old dosbox Munt patch with the new cvs. It seems to be working, but pretty soon after starting a game (Dune2 & UW tested) errors start occurring:

MT32:Overdriven amplitude for waveform=1, freqsum=11224.081055: 47210.845301 > 32767
MT32:Overdriven amplitude for waveform=1, freqsum=11224.081055: -45527.186326 < -32768

(the numbers keep getting larger & smaller, until:)

MT32:Overdriven amplitude for waveform=1, freqsum=11721.013672: -9366056951463794172234882574576517120.000000 < -32768
MT32:Overdriven amplitude for waveform=1, freqsum=11721.013672: 11183917662363371972057178720622870528.000000 > 32767
MT32:Overdriven amplitude for waveform=1, freqsum=11721.013672: nan < -32768
MT32:Overdriven amplitude for waveform=1, freqsum=11721.013672: nan < -32768

Seems like some floating point issue. Is it a known problem or something dosbox specific?

Is there a way to get 0.73, munt and mt32 roms working in vista 64-bit? Im curently using some 0.72CVS, and this seems to be working fine.

Has this project stopped again? There haven't been any CVS commits since one year and half 😒

So I guess it's dead from the upstream authors.

No but asking silly questions won't make development any faster.

I don't know what was "silly" about my question. I was inquiring because it could be that the project had moved somewhere else.

Buying an MT-32 is hardly what I'd do, since I already have one ("Wing Commander made me do it!") But your comment about it being "cheap" couldn't be further from the truth. The cheapest you can find goes for about 80€ with 170€ shipping costs. It's totally ridiculous for a used piece of hopelessly outdated hardware. People on ebay are just trying to rip others off.

I don't see the tip off. Buyers bid that much, so to many they are worth that much...

Ebay is not the only place you can get these. You can try the goold old classifieds and other auction sites that aren't as popular.

But yea I get your point, but for me I was happy to spend the money and have something that works and sounds right.

One day Roland will sell their own soft synth. Just a matter of time and enough people asking Roland to do that 🤣
