Looking at the innards in the picture below, I'm just curious as to what that large metal frame the cables are screwed onto is.... (center of picture)

At first glance it looks like all the outgoing power(volt/watt) goes via that one, but something tells me that would be very dangerous ? 😳
But the other end of those (thick!) cables DO go out to the modular connectors thru those ferrite rings, so... what gives ?
Is this perhaps what they call a (single) 'rail', heh ?

It's a ground. As for why they used the big metal busbar... I'd figure it's some combination of structural support, heatsinking, convenience of the tie point, and possibly a certain amount of shielding.
