Ok:

I need to turn frameskip up to at least one when playing the games I've been playing in order to get the sound to even out. Problem is, any point in time after I key in the combination for increase frameskip (CMD-CTRL-Function-F8 since I'm on a Mac and a laptop) the keyboard does not respond in the game I'm trying to emulate (Quest for Glory 2). The mouse works fine and the keyboard works fine in my DOS shell before or after trying QG2. This problem occurs even when I change frameskip before starting QG2. It also occurs when I try to change the CPU cycles. Is there any way to set the frameskip in the conf file?

Yes, there is the option named "frameskip". 😀

And, ah, what might the actual usage of that option be? Since it isn't in the README. Because -frameskip 1 doesn't work. Thanks.

It is not command line option, it is a line in DOSBOX configuration file (usually DOSBOX.CONF).
