Hello to everyone.
I already have created a vintage dos gaming pc back on 2003.
The hardware was a Dtk motherboard with a Celeron 400 Mhz, 64 MB Ram, Intel on board GPU and 440BX chipset, cd rom 50x Mitsumi, SB PCI 64, floppy 3,5" and 4gb Seagate HDD.
I had installed dos 6.22 and Windows 3.11 for Workgroups. The system was fully working even with the appropriate drivers of all hardware for Windows 3.11. But I abandoned it and today I want to use it again.
I want to know if a Celeron/PII is incompatible for dos gaming and I it's needed to downgrade to K5, 486 or a Pentium and which is the best GPU which I should buy to use with this vintage PC?
For the second one I want to build a Windows 9x / Me to play old Windows game pre XP. I want to know which is the best hardware to choose.
I was thinking about a K6 III, PIII or an Athlon with 512 MB Ram and SB Audigy.
Which GPU would you recommend for it?
Also if you have another proposal for full hardware please feel free to suggest it.
DOS IS THE POWER OF OUR CHILDHOOD MEMORIES!
