it seems he found a way to programmatically measure the length of the PCB ;>

Best fake news I've heard all year!

Looks like they could do with some heat sinks on there o.0

[EDIT:] and play dough!

Can you imagine how much faster the AGP version would be?

I think it would be cool to build a custom case with a special slot cut into the front panel for clearance.

The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't know.

Holy shit! Almost 20 years later and someone went ahead and did it. I can't believe he went through the lengths to even create a silly benchmark software 🤣 .

To be fair, if he went through the lengths to make a look-alike card, the silly benchmark is probably childsplay in comparison 🤣 🤣

Best video I've seen all year. Congrats to the creator, that is amazing.

I see what you did there.

Some more fun easter eggs in that video:
-PCI slots look too long. Maybe 64bit PCI?
-8 memory slots with what look like DDR (I don't remember RAM sinks being around prior to DDR1)
-Slot CPU with some interesting socket heatsinks on either side
-single ISA slot for DOS compatibility 😉

The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't know.

1 - yes it is 64bit
2 - nope pc133. Those are probably 1gb dimms
3 - thermaltake golden orbs? they are kinda MEH coolers.
4 - meh

they board is a TYAN S1867 Thunder 2500. ^.^

I REALLY want to see HOW he pulled this stunt off TBH.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

€30 worth of plastic plates ,a few old graphic cards and a lot of time to glue everything together.

Nah more like long green box in lenght of card and little special computer effects use of that 3D model of card he used in benchmark,...

Awesome video!

The original ad from 1999 is like cut and pasted voodoo 2 bits. The section near the PCI slot is actually the full PCB of a voodoo 2.
In the computer store which I frequented back then, they had a small poster of this ad pasted to the window.

I looked at some stills of the new video: In general it is very, very convincing and true to the ad. Just a few small details that show some fakery: 1) the GPU chips at the front are placed a little unnatural and raised. 2) Above the Gendac chip there, you can still see the traces of the removed memory chip. It seems like the guy butchered a dozen voodoo 2 cards, then glued them together (which makes it sound more easy than it must have been).
On the backside near the VESA connector it has this silkscreened text: 'fakeStarz - Captain_NA'.

Anyone know what Video Loca refers to?

and notice all the external capacitors on the power supply.

Right, that much I figured, but I didn't know if there was something more specific and Easter Eggy about it. Like the company the guy works for or somesuch.

The 'Video Loca' and other spanish references were already there in the original ad in 1999.

Attached the Maximum PC ad sourced from google books, which is more readable then most scans currently shared on the net.
