My machine
Athlon64 2800+
512M Memory
ATI Radeon 9600
ALC655(AC97)
...

When DOSBOX has been started, CPU load raises up to 100% immediately,
I do nothing but leaving it at the prompt "Z:\"
sound stutters seriously if game is running

However, another machine
using Celeron 2.4G CPU,
Integrated Video Chip
256M Memory
...runs regularly!

Both of them run Windows2000Professional

who can tell W H Y ?
It would better not be the problem of compatibility with AMD64 CPU
I hope

Also check your screen resolution and bit-depth. DOSBox/SDL do not like 24-bit mode if I remember correctly.

Remove any non-USB joysticks (I have no idea whether gameports still exists on new motherboards, so maybe this does not apply to you).

Thanks for your attention

I have tried output= in dosbox.conf with surface, ddraw and opengl
none of them could resolve this

my video card is already set FULL acceleration
32bit color depth

I found that I could play by setting frameskip to 2
while cpu load was near 70%

Is there anyone using AMD 64-bit CPU or suffering the misfortune like mine?

I am able to run DOSBox in my Atlhon64 without trouble, but under Windows XP. Do you really have to run Windows 2000, or is XP an option?

Also make sure you have your chipset drivers installed.
