As some of you know already, my heart is with oldskool (1998-2008 era) high-end hardware. Have tons of it, gathered throughout the years. And now I finally got around to thinker with some of it.
So this is what I threw together last week;
* Cooler Master ACTS 220 case, the pink version. Bought this one new in box some months ago
* Antex 380 watt power supply (one that actually has all 3 of the required S423 P4 power connectors AND sata power connectors)
* An Asus P4T running 4 sticks of 128MB Samsung RDRAM
* An ATI Radeon 32MB DDR card, the OEM one so @ 166Mhz. I actually owned the exact same card 15 or so years ago so just had to have it again 😀
* A Soundblaster Live! with Live!drive. Still have to test the remote and all. Cool stuff.
* A Maxtor 60GB HD
* A dvd drive with the Cooler Master Alu bezel
* A NewQ audio signal processor
After a lot of hassle I was able to get Windows 2000 up and running more or less. Real pain in the ass to get these old machines properly hooked up to the i-net AND updated.
But admittedly that's part of the fun, right ? 😀
What I still need to do, is get the Soundblaster up and running. I downloaded the Live!Ware 3.0 CD from Vogonsdrivers but it said that the was no supported card detected so I guess I'll have to look into what exact model I have. If needed I'll just pick another one from my shelf.
