Is there a version that is best for specific systems? Is there any reason not to choose the latest version on any DOS system, no matter how old?

No, I mostly use 9.0 as well, as it's more stable when detecting hardware. Older versions however are somewhat better when it comes to benchmarking, as they compare with systems of the time. 9.0 e.g. compares system speed against a PIII 667 Mhz, which is quite pointless on a 286. And for video benchmark, 8-bit VGA was removed and AGP added in later versions. But these are only cosmetical things and not related to the actual results.

Version 3.7d added to the archive. If someone has the english shareware release of that (3.7e), please let me know!

I can confirm that Dr.Hardware even runs on a 286 with 8Mhz
Here did i test V10 and V3.7

For users and guests Dosreloaded got an special offer from the author about a complete package of Dr.Hardware who might be interestet to purchase the series as full version.
