Hello guys

I'am preparing 286 build with this board. CPU is Intel 12MHz + IIT co-cpu, 1 MB on board (maybe will add SIPP modules ... will see).
But question is which VGA is typical for setup like this? Not sure which one. I can use these cards from my office like:
- Tseng 3000 or 4000
- Cirrus Logic
- Realtek
- CHIPS
- Paradise
- Trident

And second question if is regular put some sound to this machine. Adlib or this Aztech?
Want to keep all HW few years around 1990.
What is your opinion?

BTW: Battery is allready out 😀

I would put some WD Paradise inside. Tseng is nice, but even 3000 seems to be an overkill to me.

As for the card - Adlib seems accurate. You could also try some old SB, like CT-1320 which gives both adlib and CMS support. Or some Aztech NX II, which supports some other standards (such as covox and Disney Sound Source emulation).

I tend to put 286 builds in a desktop case.

SB Pro would be good for sound if you have one.

Trident or Paradise probably for video. I use Tseng because I have them.

Since you bothered with a FPU are you going to run Apps on it? If so I would suggest you find some SIPP RAM or EMS card for it.

I guess EMS card is not necessary, as this Suntac moterboard has native EMS support and you can fit more memory that you will ever need through those SIPP modules (which are hard to find but easy to make, I guess)

I like the turbo lights on this case. You totally need a board that can switch between 12 and 16MHz.

For VGA, I would go for one of the Orchid Pro Designers. Either should be okay.

Love that board! Did you get it off eBay by any chance? I was watching one just like it.

I agree with the sentiment that SIPP + SunEMS driver will be enough for basically everything.

Yep not easy find regular VGA card. I want only VGA not EGA/CGA/Hercules which should be in it.
SB is nice but very expensive these days. This Aztech BX is clone similar to SB, need try it.

Haven't desktop cases in my garage (only atypical machines) 😀 I like towers.
For testing is FPU fine. I have some SIPPs modules but don't know size of them.

Yep EMS card is maybe to much luxury item to this setup. I wil try with 1MB,than with SIPPs.

Same at me, thiscase is nice with disps. This board has output for turbo switch + led. I thought that after switch turbo on is running at 16MHz or not? I'am not expert around so old HW.
Pro Designers is Tseng 3000, this is maybe right choice. Finally will try all cards 😀

I almost bought it. I have a bigger AT board, but was looking for a smaller board that could easily be put into a standard ATX case. However, I now found an affordable and nice EATX midi tower. So I will put my somewhat large board in there.
