I did a dir /p command first and you can see that there is a file called "SS2.EXE"
Then at the c prompt I typed "SS2.EXE" and the result was that it could not find the file ???

Yes, NOW the SS2.EXE file is there, no doubt because you have subsequently replaced it.
See your earlier screenshot of a DIR command in DOSBox where SS2.EXE is NOT there: download/file.php?id=60129&mode=view
Now that the executable file is there you are no longer getting "Illegal command: SS2.", which is a DOSBox message, and instead are getting a "Filename not found" message from the game itself, presumably due to some OTHER file that is missing or can't be found.
You should just reinstall ALL game files, I guess from that SS2V3.ZIP archive visible in your latest screenshot. This is the last advice you will receive from me.
Email sent from my hotmail account so it might be in junk folder
It looks like the contents of the Silent.bat File are corrupted. It sends the command "SS2 VGA IBM 720" to the OS. That's why you get the error. Try finding the original Silent.bat
eBay is a good source to find the file 😀
