There is a mess with terms 'WSS', one being a standard, the other being the self-titled sound card. WSS as a standard only supports PCM audio. It has nothing to do with Adlib.
However, the original Microsoft Windows Sound System card does support Adlib, as it has an YMF262-M chip onboard. Every WSS-compatible card I know of does support Adlib this way or another.

Hi,
I bought an Original Windows sound system (New Sealed) and did not notice it has an Adlib chip.

I did not study this chip yet, If It support 8Bit output, I may try to support it in my SW one day.

I have the Aztech Nova 16 Extra in my XT, using it for FM sound, it's a nice upgrade from the PC speaker.

Im am thinking about an europc-soundsolution, that means 8Bit not longer as a 16bit slot so that it fit's in the case.
CT4170 should work too. ot sure what the best solution is.
