I picked up an HP Pavilion 6370Z with a PII 350 MHz, 128 MB of RAM, 80 GB 7200RPM HDD, Ensoniq AudioPCI, 3COM PCI Ethernet, and LG CD-RW. What blew my mind was that the Astec PSU's max output is only 110w! This seems ridiculously low for a 1998 tower! I want to add a graphics card (PCI only because it has no AGP slots), but I'm scared I'll overload the poor thing. I tried replacing the PSU this afternoon, but my HIPRO 250w doesn't have the 3 pin connector for the HP Pavilion's motherboard so I ended up putting the Astec back in. The previous owner used to have a Voodoo 2 in this PC and when I arrived to purchase it, he used a Kill-A-Watt meter and it reported 65w when booting and 48w when idling at the desktop. I'd like to add a PCI graphics card of some kind because I don't think the on-board 3D RAGE PRO will be enough for even low settings in games like Quake 3 Arena. As long as it's safe, I might buy an ATI Radeon 9250 because it's way cheaper than a Voodoo and I found one locally.
