I had an Ensoniq Banshee a while back that I thought was unique because it was entirely brown and had bronze colored heatsink... Turned out it was just like any other Ensoniq Banshee and had just been so overheated that the whole card smelled like burnt plastic and had turned brown... Even the heatsink. It did not work.

Talk about timing! I've just fitted the exact card into a PC this morning, haven't even installed the drivers yet. I'll be adding a fan before counting now, thanks!

I measured the temps on a voodoo 3 some while back, and from what I recall, the heatsink was as hot as the back of the card, which I'm not sure suggests very good thermal transfer as far as the heatsink is concerned. But who knows.

Timing indeed. I took the plunge today and ordered this guy for $40 usd. First Voodoo I've owned. Putting it in a PIII Tualatin build I am working on. Any links for good thermal solutions?

Here is what I did with a Voodoo 3 3000 that I repaired, for inspiration:

For comparison, here's an OEM version.

Searching for Epson Actiontower 3000 486 PC.

I recently picked up a Voodoo 3 1000 with the 5.5ns RAM because I was curious about overclocking. I added a small heatsink and fan of course, and I got it to run stable at 160MHz.
Can anyone else share their top stable overclock speed for the 125MHz V3 1000?
