I had win98se installed on the first hard drive and I tried installing winXP on second hard drive but the installation failed and the winxp will hang during loading the OS.
I would like to remove the winXP from the second hard drive and remove the boot menu from the first hard drive that I could just boot to win98se like I used to. I would prefer not to have to reinstall win98se.
Anyone knows how to remove the boot stuff that winxp installation did put on the first hard drive?

My guess is that if all you want is just to get Win98 to boot and remove any traces to XP, then SYS C: from a Win98 boot disk should be enough.

I was going to suggest fdisk /mbr which would have roughly the same effect.

Thank you for the help. Sys command worked fine. I didn't realise that win98se came with it's own sys.com and it was that simple.
