So, I'm building a Windows 98 set up (a nostalgia build) with a Creative Graphics Blaster CT6710 (nVidia RIVA TNT) based video card. Everything seems to work fine and I get clear output at 1280 x 1024 x 32.
Then I ran 3DMark99, just default settings, nothing happens. Blank screen. I can ESC out of it so no crash. Then I run the dxDiag utility that is (I believe) part of the DirectX 7.0 SDK (I installed the SDK, retail, since it was the only Direct version that I had already burned to CD). The DirectDraw test run fine, although there is quite a bit tearing during the full screen sample (it moves a white rectangle around). However, during the Direct3D tests, the 1st test which is software rendering (a spinning cube) works fine. Then the hardware accelerated sample, a blank screen.
So my first thought, damn, this card is bad. But then I remembered I had another RIVA TNT based card (Provideo Nvidia Riva TNT 16Mb AGP). Popped that one in, using the same drivers. And, the exact same problem.
So, this starts to look like it's not a problem with the cards but possibly the drivers. The ones I'm using I downloaded from here:

Has anyone seen, witnessed or heard of this problem before and/or can anyone recommend different drivers?
Thanks in advance!
