The SRAM chips I bought off fleabay don't seem to work with my board. The BIOS shows the SRAM installed but every software utility I use (speedsys, cachechk) indicate the SRAM isn't working. I think I received fake chips.
So... once bitten, twice shy. Not sure if I want to buy off eBay again. I started looking around the net and found https://www.mouser.com, but I'm realizing I'm a bit in over my head with some of the specifications. As best I can tell the Asus VL/I-486SV2GX4 motherboard will take a quantity of 8 128kx8 15-20ns DIP32 type SRAM chips if I max out at 1MB L2, which I'd like to do. I'd settle for 512KB 64k8x8 if I had to.
However, when I use the filter on mouser.com, 1) I don't see plain ole DIP packages; they only list CDIP and PDIP? and 2) when I went with PDIP32 128k8x8 the only access time it came back with was 55ns!? What am I doing wrong here? Any help is appreciated!
