I recently got a 9600pro Sapphire .
I need test this card but my only mobos are CUV4x and TUV4X.
Are both mobos compatible ?
Both features 4XAGP universal but being VIA chipsets, no sure about the compatibility with AGP8x cards.

Retro rig 1: Asus CUV4X, VIA c3 800, Voodoo Banshee (Diamond fusion) and SB32 ct3670.
Retro rig 2: Intel DX2 66, SB16 Ct1740 and Cirrus Logic VLB.

8x cards are typically downward compatible. I have a 9800 Pro in a Via 133A board at 2x and it works fine so far. Haven’t put any drivers on it yet but just in dos it works fine.

CUV4X : AGP 4X using VT82C694Z Could not find an official datasheet, but according to http://hw-museum.cz/mb/46/asus-cuv4x

AGP	1× - 4× ; 3.3V - 1.5V

TUV4X : AGP 4X using VT82C694T https://buttersideup.com/files/Via_Apollo_133 … s/DS694T100.pdf

VCCQL6-L7, R3, R6-R7, W6,AA3, AA7, AE2PAGP 1.5V or 3.3V Power.1.5V is used for AGP 4x transfer mode. 3.3V isused for AGP 2x mode

and according to http://www.playtool.com/pages/agpcompat/agp.html

ATI Radeon 9600 Universal 1.5V AGP 3.0 Card
which means
Universal 1.5V AGP 3.0 Card 1.5V slot Supports 1.5V and 0.8V signaling. Available speeds 1x, 2x, 4x at 1.5V and 4x, 8x at 0.8V.

TLDR : Either board should be fine for the a Radeon 9600 Pro from a purely electrical and interface compatibility standpoint .
