I just built a pentium 2 system in 2021 and I didn't pay a single cent (except for the $27 on the sound card and maybe $7 for the pentium 2 years back since the board originally had a 233Mhz Pentium 2 attached).

Specs:
Abit BH6 ATX Motherboard
Pentium 2 350Mhz
128MB of RAM
Diamond Multimedia Viper V550
AOPEN AW744L II
8.4GB IBM IDE Hard Drive (would like to maybe upgrade in future)
Some beige Lite-on CD RW Burner
Case with missing side panel (case was rebranded by a company called nobulous, but I've seen generic versions without the branding)

EDIT: this thread should probably be moved to system specs

specs read well, graphics roughly same as TT2 i think and sound will be nice too

btw, with that topic title you'll now have to build "a Pentium 3 system in 2031" 😀

Nice. Looks like a perfect build from the Windows 98 epoch — well done. Most of my machines are DOS only, but I need to build myself one with similar specs to have a Win 98 machine handy.

yeah but I'm having constant problems with the drivers. Any driver I use just hangs the system and even changing pci slots doesn't help

Isn't the BH6 infamous for bad caps?

Is this too much voodoo?
