I would like to see photos of your Multimedia keyboards.

Here is an HP Kayak workstation keyboard.
What was nice about it is that it worked with Windows 95/98/NT 4.0
It had buttons.

1) Lock Screen
2) Sleep
3) Programables

And an Yellow LED that would blink when you received an email.
( a very nice feature I wish came standard on keyboards )

That's a cool keyboard. Those HP Kayak systems were super cool. I've always wanted one.

Here are some HP Pavilion multimedia keyboards that came with our HP computers back around year 2000
They have a knob you would turn for volume level.

The keyboard I'm using right now is a Compaq SK-2800C. The volume and media player controls still work with modern systems. (All the other buttons are inactive or malfunctioning though. e.g. pressing the search button opens Calculator.)

Is this too much voodoo?

My Logitech Internet Navigator Keyboard even comes with a mouse-wheel! It's so absolutely ridiculous!

It is so absolutely NOT ridiculous. I use the scroll wheel on the keyboard every day. The fact that no keyboards are produced with that anymore, is the only reason why I have a 15-year old keyboard at work, with "hardware sticky-keys" from all the spills it has taken through the years 🤣

Pictured is my wireless version of the same keyboard, this is at home, though ..

Please use the "quote" option if asking questions to what I write - it will really up the chances of me noticing 😀

What's the advantage of a second scroll wheel?

One on the mouse for right hand, one on the keyboard for left hand 😀
I use it a lot to off-load my right hand from the mouse when reading large documents, also when reviewing schematic and PCB drawings, using right hand to press SHIFT or CTRL for zooming and panning etc. I didn't realize how much I used that scroll wheel before suddenly finding my self in a situation where I didn't have one ..

Yes, I can see how that would be useful. It would be nice to be able to operate the wheel with either hand.

Is this too much voodoo?

So .. Just had my support time of keyboards extended .. 2 were being tossed from departments at work due to employees leaving .. A little cleaning and I'm happy 😁

Not much exciting, except these two Microsoft keyboards (the former of which I got from a thrift store for £4). I stopped using the beige Microsoft set after I got a Compaq set for my Deskpro PC.

I think this is the only remaining keyboard I have with multimedia buttons. It mainly stays in the closet unless I'm troubleshooting multiple systems and need to hook up this backup-spare keyboard. It has some wear on the key legends, since this used to be my primary keyboard used for troubleshooting and building systems.
