These speakers do look nice - do they sound good?

Paired with the subwoofer they were really good computer speakers back in 1990’s.
They work well with sound cards that have a built in amp.
My Klipsch pro media 2.1 speakers dont work well with sound cards that have a built in amp.

They sound okay for there time.
They sound better than Yamaha YST with subwoofer.

I just received a “ADZ” variant of the AMD 5x86-133
This chip is suppose to be able to endure higher temps than the “ADW” variant.

So maybe this chip will last longer at 160mhz.
It’s NOT going to perform faster just better suited for running at higher temperatures.

I am pondering adding a 5.25 floppy drive to this computer.

I used an Am5x86-133 in 1997 with Win95a and didn't find it slow. I didn't use it for 3D gaming. And it seems like mp3s didn't become popular until 1998.

Interestingly, I recall using mp3's before that. I remember still playing mp3's on my brother's 486DX4-100 around 1996 using WinPlay3 (Winamp was only released in 1997) but, then you couldn't do much else on Windows, since it really used up quite a bit of CPU power.
However, I do agree that widespread distribution probably only started around 1998 with the launch of the popular file sharing web sites.

Yes, in DOS with MPXplay it should work fine/
Will only use about 50% CPU.

Guys,
Windows-95b is the Easiest Operating System to use for the 486 / 5x86 and ISA hardware.

“Plug&Play”

Just put in your hardware and run the “Add New Hardware” feature.
It’s that EASY. You don’t need to edit Autoexec.bat or Config.sys anymore.

For a Fresh install of Win95b Just boot your computer off a bootable DOS floppy with CDROM support
then run SETUP on the Win95 installation CD to have a Clean install of Win95.

The Win95 “Add New hardware” feature will add or remove drivers that are Needed or Not.

But it is allot easier if you have a CF card for faster Detection.

what

I think what he means is the access time of the cf card is faster. The win95 add new hardware wizard has the habit of krrrrrrrrrr-ing the hard disk. I dont know if it is just a bullshit feature to make the hardware detection sound and look legit, or if it is opening hordes of small inf files one by one, without readahead, to take a look inside. That goes faster on flash than mechanical disk.

Yes,
If you put a Fresh new clean install of Win95b on your computer and just use the drivers supplied in Win95b CD
Your PC will NOT crash and is very stable.
Win95b CD has drivers for allot of ISA cards from before 1995
Their is NO need to edit Autoexec.bat or Config.sys
Just use the “Add remove Hardware “ Feature in Control Panel Settings.
Everytime you want to Change out your Sound card or Network card or video card
Or something else just run the “Add remove hardware” feature and it will make
The adjustments and install the New drivers.

It actually works pretty good for ISA cards.
