Closed at the end of July.
Redownloads — ought to be fine for a while, remember that in the EU any consumer product sold by a business have a 2 year warranty by the seller and there's no cheaper product to offer free replacements on 😀
(And in the UK, that would be "for a reasonable time", which for a digital product might well be Forever if it wasn't de facto capped at 6 years!)
Storage limits — at first it was only Microsoft designated external drives (memory units), then for maaany years you could use most any USB drive but only if formatted to FATX which has that size limitation, then about 3-4 updates ago (circa 2017, iirc) they finally added standard FAT16/32 support even for saves and titles…
like WP7's locked microSD cards were abandoned in WP8 in favor of normal files on an ordinarily setup card (while google-sponsored Android has been going in the opposite direction for quite a while, think about it)
