So, the mac Tank bolo game received a later windows remake, but it seems the game originally started as a BBC micro Bolo that is now lost. In addition to the Dongleware Bolo there was also a 1982 Apple 2 Bolo. So yes, the Soleau Bolo is a copy in name AND in concept. But to me the Balloon Chalange remains an awesome little game.

Just found a Shareware Version of TES Arena on CD 203.
Never played it but just gave it a try.

The attachment ElderSrolls.png is no longer available

I am constantly dying. I played a lot of Oblivion but this game is Hard!

Man, this thread reminded me of a shareware\freeware CD I got back in the late 90s or early 2000s. I remember the games were mostly horrible, but there was a side view motorcycle obstacle course puzzle game that was pretty fun.

... Ah! While typing this I googled it and I'm 99% sure it is Action Supercross:

I guess it later went on to spawn several follow ups called "Elasto Mania". I'm sure the version on the shareware CD was the original "Action Supercross" because the one at the beginning of that video looks identical to what I remember.

I wonder if there's any way to find that CD somewhere online. Would like to check out the other games that were on it too.

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.

"playable demo/interactive preview" and "shareware version" are distinctly different classifications and shouldn't be confused - especially that playable demos of commercial games often have stricter distribution rights and were sometimes exclusively sold in stores!!!

I wonder if the makers if these CDs knew this (or cared abot it). Its clearly labeled "Shareware". What is even more odd is that they called this game "Arena of Darkness" Never heard TES1 referred to by this name. (Or they were simply confused by the mismatch between title and gameplay and decided to add some clearification)
