Slightly off-topic but it relates to this machine. Yesterday while the PC was transferring files over INTERLNK, I heard a loud pop sound. I thought it was my imagination but later I heard it again. Turns out the battery has swollen a bit, and now the laptop randomly turns off while on battery power, unless it is plugged in. There have been no pops since but I'm a little afraid about the battery. I would normally just replace it but here we're talking about a 30+ year old machine (then again, I'm not gonna be using it outdoors or anything).

>I'm still not sure why mapping with Virtual PC 2007 didn't work,

But I do. Kind of. USB converters and PC softwares have issues with each others (frame issues, 5-Bit format etc).
If you had a real COM port it would have worked just fine, probably.

If you can't sfford to use the proper equipment,
the ancient Qemu 0.9 and KQemu can run DOS and access such troublesome ports, for example.
The combo works on Windows XP.

Thanks for the links. Yeah the issue must be with how VPC handled the virtual port. I'm glad DBX is doing the job fine right now.
