20 years of working in an education environment where all the students carry their work around on flash drives.
The amount of PhD candidates who have lost their entire research or dissertation because of faulty flash drives is not insignificant.
Transfer medium - yes.
Primary storage medium - hell no.

Well...the data on the flash drives are to be used on two different computers at two different locations. Also, before installing stuff on a Win98SE tower, I transfer it to a flash drive.
