I just checked using only the YMF-719 and I did not get any hanging notes.

I think this is a CPU speed-related issue, perhaps related to the patch Dusty is using.

Dusty: Can you try slowing down your CPU and not using the S&M patch?

I'm not familiar with disabling cache on a Pentium II, but a quick search suggests disabling both L1 and L2 on a Pentium II will put it in 386 speed territory, which might be enough to run S&M.

I can try, though others in that other thread also tried slowing the CPU down. I'm not sure if disabling the L1 cache is wise though. When I tried before, it made the PC incredibly slow. It wouldn't even get passed the Windows splash screen. The most I can do is disable the L2 cache and try different speed levels. I think CPUSPD has opens between 1-8 with 8 being the fastest.

OS: Windows 98 SE
CPU: Slot 1 Pentium III Coppermine 933MHz (SL448)
RAM: Kingston 256MB 133MHz
GPU: Nvidia 16MB Riva TNT/128MB Geforce 4 Ti 4200
Motherboard: ABit AB-BE6-II Intel 440BX
Sound Card: Sound Blaster Live Value CT4670

The problems reported in the other thread are all with different sound cards, and I can confirm the YMF-719 doesn't have the same issue, so the problems might not be related.

You'd have to boot directly into DOS if disabling L1 cache. If you're playing a lot of DOS games, I'd recommend setting up your system to have that option. I'm not sure how CPUSPD will work to address the problem, but worth a try.

Looks like my L2 cache was already disabled from last time, but even setting CPUSPD to the slowest, at 1, the hanging note still happens. I don't think not installing the patches will make a difference. If I remember right, I had the same problem when I first tested the game on my now test rig. I had no patches installed then and I didn't own an SC-55 at that point.

The speed levels like what CPUSPD offers is all I can do to slow the CPU down, sadly. I'm not able to adjust the multiplier.
