I just bought what I think is a PC Partner vib878ds

Have a look at the left bottom, there's a number which determines the exact model! Must be something 35-8878-XX-XX, then it's a PC Partner VIB878DS. But there seem to be two versions, one with ITE and another with SMSC Super I/O chip - this difference requires two different BIOS versions.

kind regards

I forget the brand, but years ago I ended up with a Socket 7 AT motherboard using the Via VP3 chipset that had an AGP slot. Since the VP3 only officially supported 66 MHz FSB (and could go no higher than 83), IMO it did not meet the classification for SS7.

I looked it up, it was a Tekram P5VP3

I have one similarish ...

What shall we name those, bit of improvement over 7, hmmm 7.11 ??

But anyway, low spec AGP qualifies it for one job here.... Rage 128 sponge... soak up some of those things, they're breeding.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

Not Quite Super Socket 7?
I will see myself out.....

FWIW I have a slightly newer Tekram MVP3 board that is a SS7. Doesn't seem super popular but it's been a really good board.
