What you mean? Operating with cycles numbers? Or something else? On fullscreen game don't have that many sound issues, but sound bug still exist. Maybe DosBox is problem. On DB 0.72 game not work, and on 0.73 is supported. Maybe i must wait to 0.74 (who knows when 0.74 be released...). DosBox support games on many CD's? Atlantis is on 4 CD's. I have mounted CD1 as E disc - CD-ROM drive. What be, when game ask me for CD2, when CD1 (path /media/ATLANTIS_CD1 is mounted as E drive) is mounted? DosBox identify second disc as CD2 and CD2 will be loaded in game? If not, then game is unplayble all along the line.

If something is unclear - sorry, english is not my native language.

Reducing cycles not work - game run slower, but sound still have this issue. It's DosBox bug at this moment. On Dosbox game still is little to slow - 90% of normal speed, but it's not a problem. Even on game support list this is mentioned. We do everything what we can do, so i must wait to 0.74. Last time i played Atlantis 2 years ago so i may wait a year more.

ps.: not - im not need to use imagemount - I have oryginal game on 4 CD's so only what i need is mount -t cdrom 😀

Thanks for all help.

not recucing cycles, but fixed cycles so set them to 100000 or sth like that.
this game works properly for me with fixed cycles.

you can check the lastest SVN http://builds.tharos-online.de/index.php?dir= … date&order=desc

have you patched the game?

also make images from cds as real cds may be problematic when they speed up/donw or are scratchy.

You have right - maybe slow reading from CD are source of sound problem. Image from CD's are not good idea, because Atlantis have auto-save system. When game ask for second CD, how i mount second image as CD2 (i can't exit game, because auto-save is before asking for CD)? I must mount image without exit from game.

Yes- i patched game.

Edit:

I have little problem with mountig iso.

imgmount D c:\DOS\image1.cue c:\dos\image2.cue c:\dos\image3.cue c:\dos\image3.cue -t iso

CTRL+F4 to switch

Change host directory depending on OS the above example is for WIN32.

I downloaded latest compilation, but i see only EXE file and dll libs... they are beyond my Linux...

I mounted image, fixed cycles - sound is not perfect. I must try with cycles higher than 100000. Is there any way to set cycles on 100000 at DosBox start? Default cycles is...3000? I want 100000 by default 😀 Very high cycles (200000+) almost solved sound problem, but setting this cycles at any DosBox run is tiring. On 200000 there is almost normal. I think on 300000 cycles will be ok.

everything you can set in dosbox's configuration file dosbox.conf
on linux it should be here
~/.dosbox
what is your linux?
also set in config file
rate=44100
and all other rates to 44100 too.
and set cyclesup=20
so that ctrl-f12 shortcut work will make sense

Heh - i set this cycles on core=number_of_cycles 😵 But this number are not by default on DosBox run. Know i set right cycles at default.

Hmm...i want to show a record from game, but in-game i have this sound problems. DosBox record clean sound without issue 😐 Nothing works - back to beggining point 😢 Even with 200000 cycles there is like at start.

Im using Fedora. Im tired...

Set cycles to a value you don't reach 100% cpu or single core usage with.

also check whether lowering rate= (all rates) halps
and whether rising prebuffer= helps
and whether rising blocksize= helps

Cycles: 3000-3500

[core] section

core=dynamic

[mixer] section:

rate=44100
blocksize=4096

This settings in 98% fixed sound issue. Problems with sound are sometimes - just sometimes. So sound problems we have behind us (i hope).

There is one problem - with mouse. I set sensivity to 700, but moves are slow and laggy. Is there any way to set mouse more smooth? There are one arcade moment in game - shooting from bow. With this mouse moves is impossible to kill wild boar.

In AppDB there is written:

The Problem won't be 100% solved (the mouse control is still not optimal) but the game is very playable

Yes - but this mouse control is not a problem in game, but is a HUGE problem when this arcade moments come.

Now i think there is a DosBox problem. I dont know - this is problem not to solve at this moment i think on 0.73.

For the unresponsive mouse movement in this particular game, try the workaround program here. Experiment with different amounts of cpu cycles, mouse sensitivity, and rate cuts. Trying to increase the mouse sensitivity a lot does not help the in-game mouse very much, and makes the menus hard to navigate because the sensitivity has full effect there. I suggest starting with a rate cut of 8; but don't cut too much or the mouse control will get overly "mushy", a side-effect of what the workaround program does.

Yyhaaa 😁 It works 😁 It's not perfect, but this program is very helpfull. It's not a way to ignore mouse problem by DosBox authors, but at this moment Your program is only way to play this game.

No...this sound issue piss me and drive to mad - it's impossible to listen whole game!!! Where i cant report this issue?! I almost finish Atlantis, but it's really hard to listening this bug! It's like a torture 😵

I've recoded some sample from game to show this BUG: http://www.speedyshare.com/files/21188335/Atl … x_Sound_Bug.WAV

It's really hard to play with this. Sometimes sound is worse - on this sample is not bad. Nothing helps - cycles, sound rate - completly nothing...

After some time of playing it appears here too but i can get rid of it when i switch fullscreen/window a few times and rise cycles to 100.000+ and back. Not sure whether it was helping but, at least the problem always disappeared after that. Btw I noticed you also have a polish version, how have you been able to patch it? As I only see patches to english/french/german versions.

I've tested this method when i start played game. Sometimes worked, but still i have this problem anyway. I've finished Atlantis yesterday but i lost a lot of nerves. The problem is performance of DosBox - thiss issue was on more detailed sceneries (almost all.). On low cycles game run too slow to play and sound bug is still, on higher cycles sound is horrible - not to listen. So only way is something between lower and higher cycles: 24000-30000 but this not solved our problem - this cycles are good to play (but game still is sometimes like a slideshow), but not for listen. I wait to next DosBox, or next of next.

How i patched game (yes, polish version - my native)? 😀 Well...i applied english patch. Of couse this operation have consequences - my native polish fonts dissapear in main menu and loading screens (when you change CD's/iso), but game runs fine.

I forgot - and for mouse there is one option- ripsaw8080's program for mouse, dedicated for Atlantis.[/b]

Was the sound file above recorded through DOSBox or with another program?

And if you record through DOSBox Ctrl+F6? (to have a comparison of where the problem occurs)
