So, is this the copy of MM that you access on the computer in Weird Ed's room? Does it actually shell out and run the executable? I would have thought that since DOTT is running on SCUMM, they'd just use the MM data files and run it almost-natively.

Yes it does. MANIAC.OVL is the low-res MM's executable, but hacked up. Like I mentioned, it seems to have had some 286 instructions added since it won't run on 8086 machines. The copy protection door was removed and it will only save games on drive C.

In addition to that, Tandy mode doesn't work or EGA mode (if you're running LucasArts games on VGA, they're actually in Mode 13, but with only 16 colors displayed). CGA works though and Hercules.

The LFL files are untouched, so to run the game on an 8086 PC, you simply need to replace the executable.
