Also to the mods/admins: I would request this entire thread be deleted before the end of the day since there's some personally identifying info in here. (Or just delete anything personally identifying.)

It's publicly available WHOIS information, not exactly private.

It's not like anybody sifted through his garbage... *shifty eyes*

What SquallStrife said 😀

I found it all from a couple of searches, not from stalking the guy.

All 200ish pages on my website now have frames blocking implemented. :)

If anyone runs into any trouble viewing my website as a result, please let me know!

I got a rather lengthy eMail from someone this morning that was, in the end, simple fan mail, except that at the very end the guy was impressed that I owned three domain names: pixelships.com, pixelmusement.com, and ancientdosgames.com.

Oh man, i'm laughing it up! 🤣

I was the guy who sent that e-mail!!

So today, i randomly think of Ancient Dos games, get on my phone's browser, type in "ancientdosgames.con" or something similar, i messed it up slightly, so that it automatically went to google search, and randomly discovered this thread in the google search! I had always remembered that time you went "I don't... own ancientdosgames.com!" 🤣!

But it's just TOO FUNNY to see you say "I got a rather lengthy email" hahaha...

Ok anyways 🤣, just what a coincidence i stumbled upon this thread! I'll bet you never expected me to ever see that!

So 🤣, i read over that old e-mail i sent and your reply. That was fun, though i'll admit i had a bit too much free time on my hands, randomly sending you a "Fun Fact" email, of which probably more than half was inaccurate 🤣.

Anyway man, cool that you've kept the Dos game show alive, very cool.

The last time i read anything by you, you were going through a move! hope it turned out fine.

Have a good day, man.

😀

Heh. Fancy seeing you here. You should join in the conversations here now that you're registered and everything. :)

Technically, I'm still in a "moving" state, as I've only got about 1/3 of my stuff unpacked. The rest is in storage, including all of my console gaming stuff. I didn't expect to be at Dad's as long as I have been but Ivxscape is taking a huge amount of time to make, partly because I'm developing all kinds of foundation code in the process which I can use in future projects to speed up development substantially.

Since I already got all the footage I needed for my next ADG episode recorded yesterday, a solid chunk of today was spent working on a unified I/O system so that instead of having to manually configure several different control interfaces for every game I make, I just have to punch in a few lines of initialization code, tell the game what buttons, keys, axises on what keyboards, mice, controllers, etc. affect which in-game controls, and the rest is handled automagically! :)

Also, for anyone else reading through this thread again for nostalgia sake now that it's been resurrected, I never did give complete closure to the story. ancientdosgames.com is now simply a redirect which goes to pixelships.com/adg without masking the URL or anything through the use of frames. I also spent some time talking to the guy who set that up to find out what kind of hosting his company could provide but ultimately decided to stick with my current host since what he could offer was comparable and thus not worth the effort to switch.

No offense but this stuff creeps me out.

So much for living in a free country btw (U.S.). Even when I've been minding my own business in the real world, I've had strangers come up to me in person stating they know my phone number. I'm not sure if they were impressing themselves by trying to intimidate me, invading someone's life or just being stupid arseholes.

Also, about %80 the time I see a "Bing [Bot]" showing as browsing these forums.

oh wow. So I take it you've only unpacked 1/3rd of your stuff because you don't plan on staying there forever (or for a good amount of time)?

Well, 🤣 i've gotten out of gaming lately, so many more better, important things to do.
I figure, if i want, a little can't hurt for some fun, though 😁

Sounds like some awesome Codey-Wodey stuff 🤣

Can't say I totally know what you're talking about, but that's ok. I'm not a game designer 😀

Sounds like it will make things easier in the future, though 😁

Oh i'm a lean, mean, thread resurrecting machine 🤣!

Yes 🤣, some small apologies for resurrecting such an old thread, but it was just too funny 🤣

Kinda cool that i was a part of this story! I never would've dreamt 🤣.

But yeah, I visited the ancientdosgames.com address, and didn't see any like banner saying "I'm a fan of the site" or anything, so I was wondering what happened in the end. Now I know 😀

Kinda makes you wonder, though, how often does this type of thing happen to other website owners?

Lol is the real reason Yahoo has "www.Yahooo.com", "www.Yhaoo.com", and "www.yyahoo.com" random Indian junkies taking out domain names to do them a favor? 🤣

Nah 🤣, probably just a company with lots of money taking out common mistypes and making it redirect to their normal site.

Oddly enough, in my browser, (Chrome) if you type "www.yahhoo.com" you get a "requested Page not found' page, from Yahoo!

Almost as if they took out some names and made them redirect, but other names they fiercely intend to make you realize the error of your spelling ways! 🤣

Anyway, cool talking with you again. 😁
it's been a while 😜

That's really weird. Like where do you live 🤣? (somewhat rhetorical question there) I've never had that happen to me before where I am, and never seen or heard about it happening to anyone else!
Though I never asked anyone 😜

But yep, Internet is a global resource. Right now, someone is reading this forum post in Bulgaria, translated into Romanian by Google Translate 😜

🤣

Later guys

Steve

If you want scary, I found an old friend I hadn't seen since we were kids together on the internet a while back. I happened to ask him about one of the other kids we knew from the neighborhood. I couldn't remember his last name, but my friend knew who I meant by the description I gave him and told me the name that I was trying to remember. Just for laughs, I did a little snooping around, and not only did I find his current address, I found out he had a business, his wife and kids names, his political affiliation, and his charitable and political donations for the last 20 years, and that was just on a lark. Can you imagine what I could have found if I had been really serious? Your personal information isn't safe, folks! If a benign amateur like me can find it, then anyone who poses a real threat can, too.

Yes. :P

This is a small part of the reason why I don't make any serious efforts to hide details about myself, since the internet is way too open a place. Being an altruistic person factors into it too. So, I figure I might as well take full credit for the things I do right, take responsibility for the things I do wrong, have reasons to LOL about virtually anything, even if it's embarrassing or degrading, and only use my excessively common screen name of "Gemini" just for sake of coolness or whatever. :B
