So the Ivy Bridge i7 is at least 35% faster clock-to-clock (if the i7 ran in Turbo, which is possible most of the time because most of the DosBox load is on a single thread: a single threaded application through a JIT compiler) here than an older Phenom. Which is still a decent CPU, compared to a BD.
The difference between a modern i5/i7 and a BD is similar to what we see between a Core 2 and a Pentium 4, which is 2.6-fold clock-to-clock 😖
Does anyone have a Trinity APU around here?
(A side note: once I succeeded in writing a 256-byte intro that ran ~20 times faster on an Athlon XP than a P4. And it wasn't intentional, I don't even understand the reason of this enormous gap! What I saw, that the P4's performance was very unstable.)
