If someone does money out of my hobby, that's definitely not me !

I see it the same way. I started this hobby because it was fun and interesting, not because it might net me some money down the road.
It's fun!

Yeah, same here! I know this doesn't apply to everything in life and that every person has his/her right to find their way to making a living, but sometimes emphasizing so much on money is just what kills the passion down the road.
Do you make money of your Retro habit?
It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.
I usually dump the crap I don't want to a flea market. I get around 200€ ($225) a week, but I still think it's too much effort to price tag everything. Still, it beats shipping a ton of games and what not on a daily basis.
Despite my username, I have spent more money on retro computers and parts in the last 5 years than I have on other computer stuff in the last 15. Hence why my newest system is a Q9550 wit 2GB RAM. No money being made here.
Check out my blog and YouTube channel for thoughts, articles, system profiles, and tips.
I wish I'd already got all my wanted things and get some profit selling unneeded parts 😉 But no... every time I get near this point, I find something else... now I also collect big boxed games and apps which I never thought possible... and different consoles... and arcade sticks... It seems like a never ending story 😊 And almost forgot... expensive old sound cards that never interested me 😲 but are loads of fun - only now I see (hear) what I've been missing 🤣 Damn, I need so to sell more 😈
Visit my AmiBay items for sale (updated: 2025-08-01). I also take requests 😉

I sell old hardware that comes my way, usually business level networking stuff I'll never have a use for. Some stuff can be high end but last generation and may get £100-£200 max but that's still not a lot for something that easily cost 2,3 times that 5 years ago. But as I didn't pay for it I'm happy.
Most stuff will be a lot less, as long as I don't make a loss then I'm just happy someone else is getting use out of it rather than being thrown out
