I did it almost a year ago before I knew it was my OS disks that caused the 7b stop error. Whoops, should have clarified!
Also I'm a fan of buying lots of and single as-is motherboards on ebay, where clueless sellers pack 'em in as tight as they can or wrap them with nice static-ey bubble wrap which kills majority of them. I have had a few survivors though.
