Yes, on a GeForce2 MX, way overkill BTW. Also notice the diode on the back of the card that was moved before fitting the heatsink.

Pic taken somewhere circa 1992 or 1993 with an instant camera, scanned. It was in a closet with the door removed.

That thing between the keyboard and tower is a label printer and the thing in front of the speaker on top of the tower was a hand scanner. Ahhh memories.

One of the best things I ever did with my 8K3A+ was to remove the stock northbridge cooler. It was held on (barely) with thermal tape, and did very little. The board had mounting holes for a clip on chip cooler, so I took one from a dead motherboard, filed it flat, and used Arctic Silver thermal paste. Prior to that, I hadn't been able to overclock the bus speed by much, but after I did that, I was able to get it up to over 200 MHz. I finally settled at 209 MHz because anything over that began to affect the hard drive speed because of the out of spec PCI bus.

In late summer of 2004 I noticed that some of the caps were getting bulgy, so I replaced it with an 8RDA3+. I later recapped the 8K3A+, only to kill it by powering it on with a stick of RAM inserted in the slot the wrong way! Serves me right for working in dim light. In my defense, the RAM slots on that board were tight, and even when the RAM was right way around it took a hard press to make it fit in the slot.

I wish I could post, but there's a photo of me as a toddler on my parents' 166MHz Pentium MMX Compaq Presario 8700 Series. Pic is dated 2002 or 2003. I need to find it though, however it's probably long gone in a box somewhere.

Beautiful case. In where I live, they were somehow marketed as "Asus" cases. I used more than one T5 (the mid tower cousin of what you have) for years and I really loved them.

Here's my desk as of 2002. From the left Pentium 200, Pentium 166@233 (stills runs like this to this day) and all the way to the right P2 350.

I still have the machines but the 350 now has an p3 600 instead and G400max instead of MGA G200. The other two are more or less the same.

One year later is a lot different. T-bred B 1700+ 9700Pro. Quite a step up from the P2 350.

Cable management? No.

These are the oldest I can find for now, surely there should be some photos somewhere going back to my 386/486 era.

This is around 2007, so would likely be a C2D. What I've learn't from these photos is that my cable management was bad, I'm glad I quit smoking, phones were better back then (Nokia 9300 communicator and Sony Ericsson W800i) and that it's sacralige to have XP running via a monitor with an Ubuntu sticker on it.

Edit: I've just looked up and noticed that I'm using the same fan that's in the photo, must have been a good purchase as it's still going strong.
