you can update your GC to max 2x256MB ram, but you MUST use 16-chip/low density modules, other ones will likely be not recognized at all.
I have a lot of GC and GF models as well, but nowadays, the MB in most GCs is subject to fail. A working GC in 2026 is truly a rare thing...
