How do you setup a CF or SSD for Windows 98? Wouldn't the OS destroy the disk from caching?

I actually have a spare PCI IDE/RAID controller (BIOS flashable between the two), it had never occured to me to use it here.. I suppose it could use it here but I would rather reserve it for a more suitable build (Fast Slot-1 or Dual Socket 370 etc.).
