-4 floppy drives changed (some results...now the hard disk passes POST too)

If your hardware operates properly, it is expected to work perfectly with "4 floppy drives: DISABLED".

I have to check out this 4 floppy drive thing...it's new to me. In the BIOS i think, right?

It seems I misunderstood you. I'm sorry about that. I understood that you changed an option called "4 floppy drives", but I guess you meant that you tried four different floppy drives, and after changing the floppy drives, the hard drive started to work.

To me, it makes no sense that changing a floppy drive in an otherwise working system would allow the hard drive to work or not work. This means there are some yet unknown issues with your system. For example, you might have a problem with the power supply or the cables from the power supply to the drives, and changing drives might have an effect on that. As you did swap nearly all parts except the power supply and the main board yet, trying a different power supply might be worth a shot, although this is not guaranteed to help.

yes 4 different floppy drive...because i'm not sure It's not safe, if it works...

Yes i have two power supply to test. I tested the one I'm using on the MOLEX output and the volts seem correct(+5, +12), but did I only do this, or do you mean that I also have to test the P8 and P9 that go on the motherboard?
I can use also the other PSU and verify what changes

I don't understand why when I insert the other ISA VGA video card nothing appears on the screen...yet I'm sure it works because I used it a short time ago on another PC. Apart from the jumper for EGA/VGA, it doesn't seem to me that other jumpers or parameters need to be set if different cards are inserted, even if the system is an old 486...

Hello everyone,

So, I managed to fix many things, including the cdrom and the installation of windows 95. So I could close the post here, but I would like to ask one last thing, because now the video card is set to 640x480, and if I try to increase at 800x600 for example, everything starts to "flicker". Maybe specific drivers need to be installed for my Trident 9400cxi VLB card but I can't find them. Even here on Vogons it seems there are only those for DOS and WIN 3.1. If anyone can give me advice on whether they are compatible for Windows 95 or not, or if you have a link where I can download them, I would be grateful.

thx
Max

I guess that's the 800x600 56 Hz mode.
Or 1024x768 86 Hz interlaced mode.
Too bad Trident is not my preferred brand.
