Some time ago I tried 1oom-fork-v1.8.0. But I am having trouble configuring it to my previous preference, regarding starmap versus GUI scale. The starmap remains in the same resolution as the GUI, instead of a more zoomed out view of previous 1oom enhanced editions. I tried a bunch of settings without any noticable effect. Maybe it is just me?

uiscale > 1 allows zooming. This feature is deprecated and i want to replace it with hardware scaling of starmap
Also: check this patch https://github.com/1oom-fork/moo1_patcher_testing . It fixes a bug in MOO v1.3 . Needs testing

Okay, I've recently done the following:
Verified ZFS replication can replace robocopy while vastly decreasing sync time, eliminating using my desktop as a middle-man so less chance of corruption. Tested and verified on two of my QNAP and just need to grab the 3rd from off site and resync 70tb of data to it.
Identified TrueNAS checksum error I've had for a very long time on my server as being both an onboard controller issue and a PSU issue and finally fixed after years. (Also ripped out GPU and soundcard that I was intending to use for game testing which was a terrible idea on this server).
Switched from a netgate pfsense to a N100 mini-pc loaded with proxmox running opensense w/zenarmor and dietpi w/pihole
Switched from ESXi to proxmox on my home server and migrated my Windows (all game launchers) VM, Windows (Steam - macos games) VM, Fedora (Steam Linux games)VM , TrueNAS w/ passthrough to nvme and SAS controller
Easily migrated my ESX vms to proxmox using the new functionality in proxmox to do so but when I moved main windows vm virtual disk from one ssd to another I was unable to boot and due to my unfamiliarity with how proxmox handles disks I deleted it so I'm currently reinstalling all the game clients. Thankfully it was a simple matter to easily connect via iscsi to my 12TB game volume on my TrueNAS VM.
Oh, unlike ESX which doesn't have raid capability I was able to place my 2 8TB nvme drives into RAIDZ1 so my VMs have redundancy now. The 8TB is way overkill since when I purchased them at the time I was using them for my game drive instead of iSCSI so after I set that up I repurposed them.
Right now I'm manually clicking "install" for each of 200+ Amazon "games", which I've been doing for hours. fun fun fun. It turns out that GOG doesn't have the shittiest game launcher. Congrats Amazon!

As for games since my storage and backups are stable then I've been investigating winmerge to compare the difference of the game directory backups I keep compared to the main online game store folders, using this method I can identify the latest changes to keep up with the xdelta diffs to be used for the vogonsorg offline site and by using the above test systems I can identify when a update broke os compatibility.

Setting up proxmox on my other two desktops is going well:

On my 5950x with my 7900xtx I'm going to have to limit it to 10,11/Linux. Anything older cannot do passthrough since I'm out of PCIE slots due to the huge 7900xtx.
I've verified that passthrough works with the onboard optical for audio and the 7900xtx so good to go
I do have a video card reset bug which requires me to reboot proxmox every time a guest shuts down or reboots, there may be a fix for that.

On my i7 with the 980ti that I intended for 2000-8.1 I've decided I'm going to put 10,11,Linux on there as well since the 980ti works on all.
So far I've verified that passthrough works with Windows 7 with this hardware with optical and the 980ti, slowly working my way down.
The reset bug doesn't exist on this hardware with the 980ti.

Making a lot of progress on gathering all drivers for Windows operating systems for Proxmox which I'll then use for passthrough to audio/video for the offline games repo on vogonsorg.

Some interesting items:
Identified the last 100. ver of the qemu-agent for both Windows 7 and XP. Hoping that Vista is either one of those versions or somewhere in-between. I doubt the 100x version will work for 2000 though and if not I'm hoping a 7x version works.
I also am running virtio for both network and storage for 2000+ which is nice. There was a 3x benchmark increase on Crystalmark going from SATA to virtio block.
There is an issue where when you view the disk in disk management you'll see multiple drives from multiple LUNS. Thinking this is multipath-io which is unsupported on 2000 without 3rd party support. Don't see much point in staring at disk management though so as long as there is no corruption it should be fine.

Also benched virtio vs vmxnet 3 on 2000. Both roughly the same as far as network speed but cpu was massively high with vmxnet 3 whereas virtio was much lower.

I tried 1oom fork v.1.8.0 again, and also current v1.8.1. The star-map zoom feature I was missing, is actually still there in both versions. Just had to use the mouse wheel to set it, while in game.

1.8.1 is a big leap forward, associated with fundamental changes in my approach to the project. This is the moment when I am no longer ashamed of what I saw.

Okay starting from top to bottom on all my downloaded Steam games I'm compiling a list of Windows 2000 games where since Steam no longer works then these games are broken so as per DMCA I'll be puting xdelta diffs on the offlinegames repo so that they can be played or played when BWC/whatever is used.
Once 2000 is done I'll start on 98SE and then jump forward to XP 32bit. Once all the operating systems where Steam no longer works (not counting hacks) are tested then I'll jump to other store games and do the same. After all that it'll be retail games.
Sprinkled in there will be game port testing as well for when a game doesn't work but for this testing I'm sticking to vanilla unless there is a quick .dll or somesuch that can be copied over.

Using proxmox in passthrough w/ 8800gt and my corsair keyboard and razor mouse is very responsive especially with virtIO nic and storage so testing in some ways is better than Vmware WKS especially with real video hardware.

The release v1.01 has four NT6 specific calls, and needs a KernelEx wrapper to run on NT5.
The release v1.02 also uses a somewhat rewritten file indexing with FindFirstFileEx. On my XP system it can't see any file.

On my website, in the back-ports section, is a v1.02 XPmod, build to run on Windows XP.

I build and uploaded FHeroes 2 v1.12 XP-mod yesterday. I skipped the previous releases because they were mostly about initial Map Editor work. This Editor has now somewhat matured, at least, I hope so. It can be accessed from the main menu.with the E-key.

Also added an Windows XP build of ReMC2 / Magic Carpet 2 HD v0.9.7. Because the v0.9.7 WIN32 build on github seems to be borked. This version introduces a badly needed fix for a crash-issue in the renderer.

Earlier I backported TR1X (Tomb Raider 1) v4.2. It features 60 FPS mode now, which makes the rendering more smooth. Note that it still requires a relatively recent Graphics Card. Like a Radeon HD 6000/7000 or Geforce GT 710.

Xash3D (at least prebuild binaries) stopped working on Win XP. This build is the last one, which works on XP out of the box. Later builds are borked since this commit.

OpenXcom Extended (OXCE) also stopped working with provided binaries from version 7.13 up, but there is following GitHub repository, which provides XP compatible builds.

Current Xash3D x86 binaries still run fine in Windows XP after changing two bytes in the PE header (06 -> 05, first offset at 0x140). It does not make any NT6+ calls.

Alright, take that back, author was kind enough to fix this for the time being, so for the foreseeable future, Xash3D is again XP compatible out of the box.

This is probably well known among certain circles but new to me...

I noticed that my Ubisoft uplay copy of Beyond Good and Evil was updated (not 20th Anniversary) to include the Uplay DRM whereas previously it didn't have it. I keep backup copies but I wanted to see if I could remove it. Couldn't find any emulators or cracks but I did notice a mention of a mod for Farcry 2 to bypass the uplay32 injection. So loaded up CFF Explorer and removed the "uplay32.dll" import. Beyond Good & Evil loaded right up. 😀

So before I was house sitting for 2 months I had upgraded my drives to 24TB in my 5 bas synology DS1512+ NAS from 2012 which was out of space but then had 13TB free after the upgrade.
Fast forward to today and I'm still catching up on things:
Updated games from game stores and synced to server
Began syncing server to NAS.
Sync done

Used capacity: 80.05 TB
Available capacity: 3.75 TB

Dangit.

I do dedupe on my server but don't on my NAS and even if I did this one wouldn't support it. Only way I'm going to be able to free up space is to delete old game versions but I'll have to verify compatibility first. Good thing I have proxmox setup on my test machine with passthrough to an external GPU!.

This NAS is my oldest one and the only one I have to robocopy to, the 3 others ones are QNAP converted to TrueNAS where I use ZFS replication and syncing is very fast.
I'm thinking next time I'll probably build a NAS (if the numbers work out compared to QNAP) with a minimum of x8 drive bays, ECC memory and 5x nvme slots and see if I'm comfortable with dedupe for HD backups. Sure would be nice if a cheap newer drive technology would come out before then.

To nip the "piracy" crap in the bud. My game store drive in my VM dedicated to game store downloads (since I don't use launchers on my gaming PC) is 14tb with 13tb used (steam which is the biggest is not included in that number nor GOG repo) and I duplicate all those and keep multiple versions as well as all the games I've collected since 1990. I imagine a lot of it is ubishit and rockstar games since every other day they update their DRM on their old ass games and like an idiot I keep on storing multiple copies of those.

Anyone have an extra $40k lying around?

Recently the Tomb1Main project did a first release of their Tomb Raider 2 port. They call it TR2X v0.1.0. It has the 60 FPS support included. It does not seem ready for the Golden Mask addon yet.
Yesterday I put in some effort to build it for Windows XP. That build is available on my website.
