As things progressed recently, I trust MS less and less to not kill online access to digital purchases for this generation... or to kill the Xbox brand in general and pull out the console market.

I feel like X360/PS3 is the last console generation where we can buy a disc and actually expect the game to simply work, right out of the box.

Some games from the PS4/XBone era only have a download code inside the box. Or even worse, there's an actual disc, but the game isn't on there, just an installer which needs to download the rest of the files from the internet. And from what I hear, this got even worse with current gen consoles.

Yeah, and that's part of why I don't plan to move on to a newer generation. Considering a One S or Series S because they are backward compatible with 360 games and I heard that games that aren't on the official compatibility list may still work, like PGR4. Though it might be through third party emulators which probably breaks the ToS and gets the console banned.

This game had an odd history. It started as a live service, then went into being one time purchase. Then just when I bought it, it was announced to go back to being live service. Luckily I was still able to refund it, but I was very disappointed. It's one of the coolest fighting games of its generation. There are two variations, the Combo Breaker Pack which I think contains Season 1 and one character from Season 2 besides the base game, and this one that has all 3 seasons plus the soundtrack. Since most of all I wanted to play the fire breathing cyborg GMO raptor, the Combo Breaker Pack was a no-go. But I took the chance when I've seen a cheap copy of the Definitive Edition on Vinted.

Finally crossed off another game from my wishlist.
English language versions for some reason are very uncommon and relatively expensive in the EU. And the localized versions only have the localized text files. The manual is disappointing. It's just a sheet of paper folded in half with the controls and some legal crap printed on them.

There are still some games to pick up for X360. As things progressed recently, I trust MS less and less to not kill online access to digital purchases for this generation... or to kill the Xbox brand in general and pull out the console market.

Today half a year later I found one for 7,5€. I just couldn't not buy it. It's a fifth of the price I paid for that previous one and that was already cheap.

Fallout New Vegas: Ultimate Edition should, like the GOTY (Game of the Year) edition of various XBox 360/PlayStation 3 games, include not only the game's DLC but also the officially released game patches. This will become very important when the official servers for the respective consoles are turned off, because after that when you play a new 360/PS3 game then you won't be able to download the official patches so if you're not using a special edition of the game then you'll have to do without the official fixes for the game. Mostly minor fixes or rebalances, of course, but some of the fixes can be for serious bugs too, of course.

New Vegas is still crash happy on X360 with all the patches and I see value in experiencing the release day version of games. The reason I'm picking up physical versions of my digital games is exactly for the case Live shuts down for the X360 and PS3 (though I only ever had physical games for the latter). I don't know for how long will these consoles be supported. The PS3 got an update just a week ago so it seems Sony isn't rushing to kill it just yet.

I've played 1, 2 and 3 way back then, but skipped the two between 2 and 3. This seemed an economical way to get all of them safe from Ubisoft's meddling (I have 2 and 3 on PC and 3 is Uplay locked).

Today I picked up what is probably the most dad game possible. And for just $6.

The best part of it has to be that it's completely complete.

I'll probably get around to testing it out on my 486 in due time. It's just nice to have something that isn't a Star Wars game every once in a while.
