They weren't super terrible after that. Mine has an X800 Pro (which is occasionally swapped for a FX5950), 2GB RAM, and an Audigy Platinum Pro. I also added a SATA Hard Drive for game storage. Works great as a high end mid era XP machine.

The lot I got today is mostly junk for too much money, but at least this one is running. When I see what people pay for a Socket 4 board its almost worth the money. The CPU is from my own collection however...

I had this board in my first PC. I recently even almost got one, was edged by a hair.

I am a sucker for sound cards with onboard wavetable.

This ISA ESS sound card with 1MB QDSP QS700 onboard wavetable and a wavetable header. Apparently there is a jumper to switch between onboard and a daughterboard.

I wonder how this ESS will do against Opti 930/931 cards with QDSP wavetable.. with/without real OPL3.

Yes it has.

Try Dr. Hardware, which actually tests for the bug. In that screenshot, it seems the tool doesn't even detect the presence of the FDIV opcode. Could be of course that the BIOS knowns about the bug and disables the opcode, but that's not visible by this "test".

That's a great looking card - excellent SB Pro 2, ESFM, and that QDSP chipset is not bad IMO.

Excellent haul: a rare Kontron IP-Lite Color in working condition. There are some hiccups here and there (I will post question about strange screen behaviour in some circumstances), but I have to say, it's an impressive rugged machine. Very heavy, too. Makes my Toshiba T3200SX luggable look like a proper laptop. 😎

The name of the test is "test for CPU bugs". Therefore I assume the output means it has the FDIV bug 😉

Are they rare? I have some more P60/66 I never tested as I had no S4 board before...

Not sure how rare they are. I own one with the FDIV bug as well. But given that Intel replaced them for free with bug-free ones, I assume there aren't that many still around.

Any PS/2 memory that would be compatible with the L40SX laptop model? Still searching for compatible RAM, I tried adjusting and resoldering some RAMs to make them compatible, without any success.

What are the requirements for it to be compatible? FPM with parity?

It uses FPM 80ns true parity (36bit?) proprietary SIMMs

There are a few restrictions, as for example you cant use 2x 4MB sticks, that simply doesn't work. So optimally I am looking for 8MB + 4MB or 8MB + 2MB, or even 8MB + 8MB. I would even be happy with one 8MB that works. But this machine is VERY picky.

If you put in 8MB + 8MB then together with the 2MB integrated it would have 18MB total, cutting off the last 2 to get down to 16MB to make it work with the machine.

FPM with parity, 36-bit wouldn't be a problem, have many of these. But what else? 5V or 3.3V? Single bank or dual bank? (not to be confused with single-sided or doubled-sided)
