Anyway, I'm kinda confused as to what the product on offer in this thread is. Are you making/selling an actual adapter, parts to make an adapter, or just a how-to guide?

All of the above I think. I just bought the PCBs, will get the parts soon for one complete unit, the other boards will stay on stock.
Just an update.
Had issues with the first converter I received, as no mouse was actually working, i.e. no cursor movement.
Then recently I received a replacement converter, which now has proven to function like initially expected.
Apparantly the previous problems had something to do with a firmware issue (?).
(me having no soldering skills, nor with MCU-programming, I ordered a fully pre-assembled kit)
So, while testing various options/hardware with this new one, I now even got it to work with that ancient(1999) Microsoft Intellimouse Intellieye optical mouse I wrote about earlier !
(it is a dual USB-native, connected via USB->PS2 passive adapter)
- Another thing I've learned, is that changing mice while converter is powered makes it not work.
If I do that, I then will have to cycle the power to give the converter enough time to 'reboot' and recognize/acknowledge the new mouse... or something like that. Or turn off power before switching, same difference.

I'm tempted. I always found those very comfortable to use.

No, not that high. But in 1024x768 (max of my 386's ISA VGA) in Windows 3.1 feels OK for normal GUI stuff.
I don't play serious games utilizing the mouse as the main controller on this machine (was there anything anyway?) so my experience with the adapter is limited to only point & click in GUIs or adventure games, where the adapter does fine. Even if there is a lag it doesn't really hurt for these tasks and goes by unnoticed.
Hopefully this can be fixed.. also have now a new KVM with this issue 😳
Have you been able to pin-point what characteristic of the KVM is causing this lag? Like a sampling issue, or there being a sort of check the KVM is doing every x milliseconds? Considering that all PS/2 to serial protocal converters I've tested have had this issue (about half a dozen), chances are good that it is not something trivial to fix on the side of the protocal converter. I suspect the issue resides in a firmware or hardware hack for the KVM. I hope I am wrong.

Not sure as i also have a Commerical one which has the Same issue too 😒
someone suggested to rise the clock speed of the mcu and recompile firmware, but i don't think this will fix it.
Due do its some kind of timing issue. Had no time to try it out.
