Somehow this thread escaped from my radar until now. 😅 Surprised to see many people have acquired DeluxePaint II Enhanced; I bought it in early '90s and literally learn the word "deluxe" because of it.

As for my recent acquisition: a sealed copy of Windows 3.1 Traditional Chinese edition on CD-ROM. I'm still hesitant to open its seal as it's a very rare copy.

While it was the hardware bundled version and not in a retail box, it was made directly by Microsoft, not by a third party company mixing it with some other software (e.g. Sound Blaster multimedia upgrade kit). Yet several people from W__W___d had claimed that "Windows 3.1 was never released on CD-ROM." Haw haw haw. 😁

Well, I had quite the fortuitous vacation. I managed to come away with some rather interesting stuff from the late 90s. First was a copy of specifically Windows 3.0.

Sure, the box isn't in the best of shape but who am i to complain about an effectively complete copy of windows 3?

That find was followed by IBM PC DOS 6.3. I've never used PC-DOS specifically before, but I am sure there's some fun to come from using it at some point. Plus, it is effectively complete like it's windows 3 brother.
It even has a cute little guide to using the OS.

By far, though, the standout in all of this is a slightly damaged copy of OS/2 2.1.

A copy that is so complete it has more ads than official documents, and has still sealed copies of the OS.

I was genuinely shocked by this, especially given the somewhat dirty appearance of the box. A part of me doesn't want to break the seals.

Not sure I ever actually used 3.0 ... maybe for a couple of weeks total, I was barely into PCs when it was first out, then when I was up to 386/4MB spec, there were tons of cheap OEM 3.1 around, so everything got 3.1 and not even that for very long before WFWG 3.11.

Anyhoo, I discovered a disk set for 3.0 another for 3.1 and another for WFWG 3.11 last week. I will have to get myself used to suffering enjoying 3.0 because I want to have my Advantage! set up as full MPC 1.0 spec, coz everyone does MPC2. I thought I actually had a 3.0 set on 5.25, but two moves ago I sealed up all my 5.25 really right, really well, like I was burying a Pharaoh, and I have been reluctant to crack the seal... plus I might have forgotten how to undo the curse.

Heh, well it's more a practical thing, leaving them until the last of the reorganising, because I don't want 5.25 sitting around while I'm still raising dust.

It's usable. That's about it. Especially the version I no have a copy of. A majority of the software that is available for OS/2 requires later versions by default.

I envy that copy of OS/2 2.1. I have two copies of Warp 3 and one of 4 but no copies of 2.x 🙁

They seem to, strangely, pop up in the Minneapolis area. I have seen multiple boxed copies up there.

Coolio. Found a complete copy of QuarterDeck Expanded Memory Manager on 3.5" disk (for 5 bucks). I also had a copy on 5.25 that I put in the box. Heard of it, never used it, but now I want to check it out!

I've probably used QEMM for almost 4 years until I moved to OS/2 Warp in 1995 and I had so far not seen the original copy of the thing. Thank you for sharing.

Over the last few weeks finally I got myself a selection of period-appropriate creative software for my G5 Quad mac.

Final Cut Studio 2

Mostly very cheap but very bulky items! Nice to have but I never realised just how enormous and heavy the PowerPC era studio bundles were!

Finally got myself a Gray and Pink Box filled with IBM goodness.

Genuine copy of DOS 2.1 that matches my XT rather perfectly. Sure, I'll run my own version of 3.3 complete with QBASIC to enable EDIT.COM support on the XTIDE in there, but having the original OS as well is rather nice.

I've been using the same Windows 98 key for the last 25 years(I've acquired more of them on cases), and now, I FINALLY have a brand-new copy, including Plus! 98

No Way!! I was cleaning a Dell and opened the drive to find ANOTHER, more beautiful copy of Windows 98 Second Edition!!
