Bought a few boxed OSes (and a GUI) recently:
- Acer-branded MS OS/2, it’s an early version
I will be awesome if you can publish more pictures of the MS OS/2 for Acer. I collect the pictures for the OS2World wiki to keep track of the OS/2 history.
Regards
Guys,
Microsoft is discontinuing Publisher so I am buying up all the old versions because I really like this program.
It served me well for many years.
A few days ago I picked up some fancily packaged floppies.
Yeah, it's just Mac OS 7.0. But still, MS shipped disks is plastic baggies, meanwhile apple went a little too far in making things nice.

I have MacOS System 7.5 it came in plastic bags too.
My Microsoft DOS 5.0 and Windows 3.11 came in a White Envelope.

Well, I guess I just happened to find a particularly fancy version then 🤣. Though nothing will beat my copy of OS/2 2.1 that came with all the ads still included.
I went for Megarace and came back with this!
P3 866, V3, SB Audigy2
P2 300, TNT, V2, SB Audigy2 ZS
P233 MMX, Mystique220, V1, AWE64
P166, S3 Virge DX, SB32, WavetablePi & PicoGus
486DX2 66, CL-GD5424, SB32, SC55
Prolinea 4/50, ET4000, SB16, WavetablePi
SC386SX 25, T8900, Audician32, MT32pi
Cool stash!
I found one of the many "The King's Quest Collection" cd's featuring all 7 games.
To my surprise, you are supposed to run this version in the bundled Dosbox under XP.
To my bigger surprise, I could not get any of the 7 games to run natively on my X98/DOS PC. I'll try it on my upcoming XP PC in the future. A bit weird feeling to build retro pc's and then still have to resort to dosbox.
...or does this mean I'm supposed to build a DOS PC as well.
Obligatory not today, but fairly recently, within the last 2 months. Normally, I wouldn't care too much about collecting software in physical media, but these were too good to pass up. So, enjoy the show:
Windows 98 SE OEM Greek. Sealed, never used. Who knows if the boot floppy even works, but I don't mind. If I DO use it, the CD is bootable anyway. I typically go for English versions of old Windows.
Windows 2000 Beta 3. Now this is something you don't see everyday. This one might have been used once or twice, since it isn't sealed, but the disc is pristine, no scratches
MSDN Subscriber Collection, circa mid-2004-2008. Now THIS is the crème de la crème of software collecting. It has MSDN versions of pretty much everything, from Windows 2000, with SP4, to Vista SP1, including a Vista Beta from 2005, still called "Longhorn", Server equivalents, x64, Itanium versions, etc. It also has Office 2003 and 2007, Server 2008 R2, Visual Studio versions, including a 2005 Beta. It also has some SQL stuff, Outlook, Frontpage, etc. Well, that's it in a nutshell.
The non-MSDN binder on the bottom left has burned discs from the MSDN ISOs, Win7 Enterprise, Win8.1, along with some diagnostic tools
