They managed to put the batch number in the right spot! 😀

However, still upgrading the firmware, which will take some time.

We will be able to get that as a download right? Of course, we will need to do it in an EEPROM programmer.

That would indeed be great - curious about the changes already 😀

Sure, the compiled firmware will be available for download in intel hex format

Almost finished with the firmware - had to rewrite a lot from scratch.
Still testing, but BlasterBoard is running Triton's Crystal Dream on my P166MMX now.

That's awesome news! Curious to try it on the faster systems again also 😁

Crosspost from the ModMaster thread:

Back from vacation and now I could test out ModMaster XT build 9. Here is the Pinball Fantasies intro, Steelchambers 2:

https://youtu.be/9fbGwKakdgM

Sounds quite good I think. I do not think I need more than 44 KHz, however the 8bit output leads to quantization noise I think. This won't go away with higher mixing frequency, I think. The software is getting more and more impressive. Now we need to make the whole software more well rounded. e.g. 43/50 line mode, showing of up to 8 channels or so (I can only ever see the first four).

Bonus: Adrenaline (Pinball Fantasies menu music):

Space Debris at 62KHz: https://youtu.be/WX8_8ZHSxfw

Better than I expected. Still some quantization noise can be heard, but incredibly well sounding for an 8 bit card!

Hi,

finally had time to solder it.. but i don`t get it detected as SB,
Adlib works just fine.

Checked for solder bridges etc. and found nothing 😒
ICs are correctly in position too 😒

Any Ideas what i should check first ?

Did you set the BLASTER environment variable? Shouldn’t be necessary with all programs... is the ATMEL ok? That would be one likely culprit.

Have uploaded some Pictures but i can`t see any mistake yet..
As said OPL2 is working fine and its a pleasure to listen to it with headphones 😀

the atmel contains something and fusebit is set for external clock.
Whats PB1 Pin for ? are there debug messages on it ?

I can see a few pins where solder seems to at least touch the surrounding ground plane's solder mask (e.g. at the ATMEL socket, but also in other places). There might be ground connections, if the thin soldermask is damaged underneath. Maybe you can try and check those pins carefully, if there is anything shorted. During soldering I had to take extra care on this PCB because the space between the solderpads and surrounding ground is very thin and the soldermask seemed more fragile than on other PCBs I had before. HIH.

I'd go over all the ICs and just heat up the legs and pads, letting solder flow into the joints a little better.

A little bit of flux would help a heap too.

Spare the flux, spoil the joint.

Is this a bridge to that via?

hm i suspect something other.. i wish i used sockets for all ics..

i can not find a unwanted ground connection checked every connection now..

Maybe Labs can give some Debug Information..
Without a Schematic its bit hard to guess which IC is deaf..
Is there some debug code on the atmega328p ? i

🆒The PB1 pin of the atmega is routed to H6 header now, it can be used for firmware debugging etc.

What sort of debugging interface ? TTL TX ?
